Waterproof the basement
cavity drain waterproof membraines
Increase the value of your property by investing in tanking your basement.
Cavity drain structural waterproofing is better than cementitious structural waterproofing because it makes your home more secure. The water that passes through the walls is pumped away and the added pressure is removed.
The system works by hanging a strong polypropylene membrane onto walls, across floors and around curved ceilings. Water that penetrates the building collects behind the membrane and is directed into purpose made gullies leading to a sump. When enough water has collected a pump will automatically turn on and suck the water away.
There are a variety of different membranes we can use to suit different clients needs. For example if space is an issue we can use a plastering membrane which takes up less room than a dry lining membrane.
It is possible to combine cavity drain basement systems with cementitious systems.
This photograph shows our client’s basement on the day our work began. You can see a channel is starting to be formed to take the gullies around the edge of the room. It is also interesting to note how wet the area is when we began.
This photograph shows how the membrane is hung on the walls and across the floor. The channel has been cut out and the gullies fitted around the room. The white tape is joining section of membrane together. The black tape is a temporary measure to hole the edges of the floor membrane up in readiness for the new concrete floor to be laid.
"We have recently completed a structural waterproofing project on a basement where we have increased our client's usable living space by one third and the value of their property by £150,000!!!"
